Time For English

In Kansas City, KS a boy is suspend for speaking Spanish. While it may seem harsh, it is not in fact the boys first transgression. But more important from a national prospective is should we be discouraging Spanish speaking in school, not just in the classroom. The problem is when a bi-lingual students uses his abilities to go to a foreign country, he serves as an ambassador, he is an asset. But when he uses it to help a Spanish speaking American student he destroys the immersion for that student which is so important to him learning English.

What is American? More than anything America is an idea, built by a bunch of misfits who went into the wilderness and built a country. Success in America is far easier than success in other nations. If you take responsibility for yourself you can build something great, but even if you don’t you can subsists. When it comes to English an immigrant can learn it and go far, or ignore it and subsist.

When we allow FOREIGN languages to subsist in our country it lessons the quality of life. Going to a store where one out of ten people speak at best broken English is a chore. While my feeble attempt at German help give me a since of appreciation for German culture while in Germany, my total lack of French made my Paris visit less than ideal. By comparison, England was a total joy. Free of a language barrier I was able to get a much deeper understanding of English heritage. How can immigrants become America if they can’t even understand us?

Another important consideration is Political. Should a politicians pander to immigrant’s in a FOREIGN language. Who’s very use excludes the majority of this nation. Our heritage is English, we Declared our Independences in English. We formed our more perfect union in English.

It is time for English Only and English First laws.

When I say English only I mean for the government. All government documents should be in English, including but not limited to, ballots, information request, court decisions and aid forms. If a person wishes to use the government they shall be responsible for knowing English or finding some who they trust who does. One exceptions, any police force must give Miranda warnings in the language in which a conversation or interrogations is taking place.

No company may be sued for not providing service in a language other than English (translation companies contract to translate excluded). A company may be sued for not providing service in English

When I say English First I mean places open to the Public. All Publicly displayed Signs Must Have an English Sign as large as, or larger, and in the more prominent potion than the corresponding foreign languages sign. All publications in a foreign language must provide an accurate English translation with similar availability. In practice a foreign language news paper must provide an English version with identical content at all distribution points. Foreign Language Radio must maintain an English translated channel Excluded from this law would be publication printed and imported to this nation.

English is important for understanding who we are. English is the only we to talk to the Majority of Americans. English is Paramount to our nations cohesion.

Eye for an Eye

So we have executed our 1000th convict in my life-time, a sad mark even for the supporters of the death penalty. Lets take a look at our poster boy:

Boyd, 57, did not deny that he shot and killed Julie Curry Boyd, 36, and her father, 57-year-old Thomas Dillard Curry. Family members said, “Boyd stalked his estranged wife after they separated following 13 stormy years of marriage, and once sent her son to her house with a bullet and a threatening note.”
During the 1988 slayings, Boyd’s son Christopher was pinned under his mother’s body as Boyd unloaded a .357-caliber Magnum into her. The boy pushed his way under a bed to escape the barrage. Another son grabbed the pistol while Boyd tried to reload.

As he is clearly guilty the argument against the death penalty because we are executing innocent people is bogus, at least in this case. And while were on the subject, DNA evidence has cleared some people, but going forward the same DNA evidence will make us more certain of the accused’s guilt or innocents.

More over the death penalty is not racist. A murder is a murder regardless of his color, or ethnic background.

The Death penalty is not cruel and unusual. To understand why lets look at the meaning behind “cruel and unusual”.

The only TRUE and VALID argument is a moral one. It cannot and should not be decided by a judge. Is it justifiable to execute a criminal who has kill another person? I think it is. An eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, and a life for a life.

Health Care we Have a Need

Healthcare in this nation is approaching a crisis point. People are being kept alive by advanced care longer and longer. The Baby boomers are rapidly entering retirement. Uninsured, legal and illegal, are clogging this countries ERs. The solutions to the problems are hard but we must solve them.

Socialism, the very word gives Americans the hibby gibbies. But that is the only solution I can think of.

I have this whole proposal in my mind and it would be long, and probability bore you so here is the short version.

1. Fix prices, government boards. Surgeon general and four-to-eight others serve at nation level, at least one who represents doctors and one for drug companies. There job will be to set National drug prices and coordinate with state appointed boards. State board would consist of industrial representing(minority) and government appointees(majority) who would set all prices for treatments

2. Massive number of clinics to relieve ERs of non emergency cases
possible doctor and nurse training programs

3. Insurance companies out of the business of healthcare.

4. Co-pays based on income and procedure

5. Paid for by a per worker tax on employers and retirement plans. I'm thinking, per worker, per month of $50 (Part-time STUDENTS) to $100-200 (part-time non student) to $500 (Full time Salaried). And a progressive worker income taxes. Medicaid, and Medicare taxes eliminated

Well thats the basics I could expanded on the five points and probabily add more but it been a long day and I'm tired.

You Get What You Pay For

You get what you pay for, there are few truer saying than that in life and in politics. How much have you paid for politics? Three dollars that didn’t even come out of your pocket book? If your answer is $0.00, then you have certainly gotten your monies worth out of our politicians.

American politics flows with public opinion much like the great Mississippi river. There are two major forces in America today; The lobbyists who parade money in front of the politicians, who then use it to build channels and dykes to control and influence public opinion. Then there is the public who tries to break these controls, often frustrated by them. Every once in a while anger builds up, like a large rain storm, and the people flood over these controls and into the other course maintain by the opposition party. The last time it happen was in 94 when the Republicans took over with there Contract with America. Once again I can feel the frustration building.

However what is needed is a return to the true course, not one maintain by republican or democratic lobbyists. Every once in a while a leader for the true course surfaces and wins a congressional seat. However they usually last only one or two terms before being burned by the politicking.

What is the answer? A third party, not paid for by lobbyist, not paid for by a few wealthy individuals, but a party paid for by the people. Party based on moderation, protecting property rights and the environment in that order. A party that would promote universal healthcare in order to save it (why is another blog). A party that would pass meaningful campaign reform and simplify the tax code. I would lead such a party if I felt people would pay. I cannot ask you to follow me under an assumed name, but I will ask for your support, tell your friends, family and coworkers this idea. Maybe we can do it, because in a democracy one vote ain’t much and right now that’s all I have.

How We Need to Support Our Troops

_____Is President Bush, a dope trick by the CIA, a liar who intentionally mislead us about a WMD, or was he mislead by twelve years of obstructionalism by the Saddam government. I really don’t care. Saddam’s regime was a bad thing, who’s presents was an on going if low level threat. Unlike the chicken-livered congress, who should of Declared WAR, Bush did what needed to be done. He did what congress authorized him to do.
_____Questioned our leaders is a God given right we have fought to preserve. But when people question an occupation, They give hope to the enemy. When a Democratic candidate say he will pull out, they think a few more dead and our guy will win. When a mother dishonors the memory of her son on national television, they think a few more momma’s boys die and they will bug-out.
_____What maters most to me: After 9-11 Bush said your either with us or against us, and Saddam’s Dictatorship praised the attack and offered a Bounty to the murders families.
The issue facing us today: If we leave without setting up a permanent government the terrorist will control Iraq, like they and the puppets controlled Afghanistan. Excepting instead of be a dirt poor back on nowhere to plan their attack, they will be in an Oil producing country. We already seen that France and the UN have no problem trading with criminals.
_____As a Patriotic American supporting our troops I call for Responsible news coverage. Stop portraying 10 people as a major protest against the War. Stop covering protest were there are more counter protesters that protesters. Patriotic Americans should boycott product advertised by irresponsible news shows!
